Paranormal Activity
Nov. 28th, 2009 06:11 pmOK, just saw this film, after... mixed reviews. Personally, I... well, I guess I liked it, even though it scared the living crap out of me, and generally, Japanese horror films are the only thing that does that. I was watching with two different mindsets, sort of, and came up with two quite different reactions.
Sceptical mindset: Katie's "demon" starts as the overactive imagination of a young child, progresses into some kind of psychokinetic activity when she becomes an adolescent/young adult, and eventually culminates in a complete psychotic break.
(this version makes me want to write crossover fic with Criminal Minds, and I don't even write fic for that fandom)
Supernatural-fan mindset: Er, yeah, my inner crazy Supernatural fan spent most of this movie screaming for a sack of rock salt, a shotgun, and chalk to draw a Devil's Trap with. That was... it, really. This version makes me want to go back, figure out what the Winchesters were doing in 2006, and write fic that sends them to San Diego.
...oh, and I now have the strong urge to grab the salt from the kitchen and demon-proof my house/room.
