Well, we pick up exactly where we left off - de-Nathan-ified Sylar digging himself out of his own grave. He then wanders around covered in dirt for a while, and eventually gets picked up by the Baltimore police.
Unfortunately, when they find him, he can barely talk and doesn't know anything. Not his name, not where he is, not even the date. So they bring in this nice lady, Dr Gibson, to figure out a) who he is and b) whether or not he's crazy. With the help of a few human kindnesses - taking the handcuffs off, getting him cleaned up and into fresh clothes - she at least gets him talking. Unfortunately, at that point the cops get a match for his fingerprints and, oops, the file about him killing his mom shows up. Not that he remembers any of that.
He also doesn't remember the powers that he reflexively uses to escape the police station, after which he carjacks poor Dr Gibson and tries to get her to help him. Then the cops catch up, he ends up shot in the chest several times... and that's another power he doesn't remember, the healing. He does get rescued from the cops chasing him though. More on THAT awesomeness later.
Over at Claire's college... yeah, OK, Gretchen is starting to worry me now. She's like, crazy possessive, trying to talk Claire out of some sorority mixer and whatever.
Oh, and Claire thinks that Gretchen's stalking her. Which she is, in a sense. Just not the sense you think. Um. See, Gretchen... is girlcrushing on Claire. MAJORLY. And... acts on that. Claire was... taken aback.
(Quick note... um, seriously, writers? This many hot guys on the show and the first slash we get is a) girls and b) NOW???)
Anyway, the moment got ruined (I guess) by the sorority girls showing up to offer them both membership. With candles, for some reason. I guess that's a US college thing, I wouldn't know about that.
As for Peter... well, at first he's having (or trying to have) a chat with Angela. Very nice, lots of family bonding and connecting people. Or at least, that was the theory, because Angela's more concerned about why Nathan didn't show up, and it's another Ironic Conversation because, oh, wait, actually... we know why Nathan didn't show. It's because he's dead, and he's been dead for... about two months now, I think.
ANYWAY. The cool stuff for Pete happens later, when:
a) he saves Emma from being hit by a bus.
b) he picks up her sound-as-colour ability (also, I knew it was an ability, otherwise he wouldn't have picked it up).
c) they connect over the fact that they both see sound as colour now, involving some children singing and a piano. It was very cute.
d) he tells her about people with abilities, she goes "OMG no way" (not in those words), and they arrange to have lunch and talk more about it. (Which, FYI, totally counts as a date in my book.)
So, in conclusion, my "hey, they'd make a cute couple" that I had the other week when we met Emma is now "HELL YES I SHIP IT". Hey, he saved her life. If it's good enough for the Peter/Claire shippers....
Oh, and then Hiro teleports to Peter's apartment and collapses. I honestly have no idea what's going on there.
(While we're on the subject of Emma... we found out New Stuff about her:
1. Six years ago, she was training to be a doctor but something happened and she stopped.
2. The Something involved the death of someone called Christopher.
3. The doctor who thinks she has synaesthesia is her mom.
4. Her full name is Emma Coolidge.
5. She went to Arlington University (isn't that where Claire is?)
6. Um, that ability of hers can be surprisingly... destructive.
and.... purely a personal thing, but I really like her. So, YAY.)
AND FINALLY, we have... Samuel and his Carnival of Awesome.
Now, the ep starts with Samuel being VERY certain that their "new family member" (to replace Joseph the dead brother) will be with them before the day is over.
Lydia of the tattoos is... sceptical about that.
As it happens, though, he's right. And, via some means I'm really not sure about but might have been teleporting, the Carnival moves to... a random forest in the Baltimore area. Just in time for Sylar to run up and go :O. Which clears up the new family member thing, at least.
Other Carnival-plot this week involves another new person... who, interestingly, is also the 'head sorority girl' from Claire's college. And even more interestingly, she calls Samuel "Uncle", and she's an Invisible Girl, who seems to be on a mission from Sam to infiltrate the college and get Claire as alienated as possible, to make Claire want to join the Carnival family. To those ends, all the weird stuff that's happened around Claire (Annie the annoying roommate's 'suicide', Gretchen's computer turning itself on with the stalker stuff onscreen, etc)... yeah, that was all Invisible Girl.
On an almost completely unrelated note, I think Samuel and Lydia have... had a physical relationship at some point. Just a hunch though.
Hunch #2 is that the reason Sylar can't remember anything because his memories are in Matt's head, masquerading as Head!Sylar.

Date: 2009-10-13 11:02 pm (UTC)I'm really hating Heroes anymore, but this episode had so many things I liked that I'm going to have to retract my statement and say that it is getting better.
SURELY BY THE FORCE OF THE KNEPP'S WILL. The Carnival of Awesome = SHOW SAVER. When that shit moved, I was all HOLY SHIT HE IS GOD. SRSLY though, his power is all kinds of crazy. Earth-moving, ink-transferring, carnival-teleporting? IS THERE ANYTHING HE CAN'T DO? But what IS his power? He mentioned earth-manipulation but WTF? EITHER WAY I LOVE HIM LOTS.
I'm with on the Samuel/Lydia hook-up, and I am desperate for Sylar to get hims brains back and be all WUZAAAAH with Samuel and the Amazing Traveling Carnival of Bad-Asses.
HIRO PLZ GO AWAY NOW. They left him behind seasons ago, and they should probably leave him behind. Also, Claire and her pseudo-lesbitronic storyline can DIAF.
I was pretty bleh about Peter until Emma showed up, and I LOVE HER AND THEM. I have NEVER had a het ship on this show UNTIL NOW.
GUH. I have to say this episode is AWESOME.

Date: 2009-10-14 05:05 pm (UTC)(going by HeroesWiki, his power is "terrakinesis", which is basically.. earth-manipulation. But it works on minerals in general too.)
Hiro is... superfluous, at this point. The fact that he's only had one plot the whole time, just recycled AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN might be something to do with it. And Claire... IDK, the lesbian crush came out of nowhere, to be honest. And it's weird, because she's been a hell of a lot less irritating recently.
Peter/Emma... I love them, basically. In my head, I have this scenario where Peter learns sign language so he can communicate better with her, and then they figure out the specifics of her ability and possibly get married and live happily ever after.
