A/N:...I've seen two episodes of Lost Girl, so blame that for any characterisation inaccuracies. Also, I have no idea where to put this in the Dresden Files chronology, so let's just say this is in some random alternate reality for now.
“You know, when Kenzi told me there was an actual wizard in the Chicago phone book, I thought she was kidding. But... here you are, so I guess I owe her an apology,” Bo said casually as she walked up to the bar.
“You're not from around here.”
“I did actually live here once, but I didn't stay long,” she said with a grimace. “Anyway, we're not here to talk about that. Shall we get down to business? I'm Bo, and I'm kind of a private detective. You're Harry Dresden, and according to your ad, you're a wizard.”
“Before you ask, I don't do children's parties. What did you want, exactly?”
Bo sat down at the table. “I'm looking for information, and there aren't too many people I trust. Hence the neutral location.”
“I don't even know you.”
“You're... an outsider. Like me. And I think, when you hear what I'm looking for, you'll help.”
“And that would be...”
“I want to know who my parents are, and how to find them. I know they're like me... I'm a succubus... but I don't know anything else about them.”
Harry looked at her for what felt like a very long minute. “First, your mother would have been a succubus, but not your father. Kind of a girls-only thing. Second, there's only so much I can do... I could look into it, but I'm not the best person for this job.”
“You know the Raiths, though.”
He actually looked impressed for a second. “You really did do your research.”
“They're succubuses... succubi... though, aren't they? And the men are... incubi?”
“They prefer 'White Court', but yeah, that's pretty much it. And they're very, very dangerous.”
“I'm not asking you to fight them. Just ask around.”
Harry tried hard not to laugh. “I can talk to a few sources. But I'm not promising anything.”
“Good enough, I guess,” she said with a grin. “I'd better be going. You have no idea how tough it was to get permission for the trip down here...” she said as she got up and started to leave. Before she stepped through the door, she called out, “Hey, Mac... Trick said to say hello from him.”
Mac just nodded in acknowledgment as she walked out.
