Movies: Legion

I did not go into this movie with high expectations.
In fact, I went for these reasons:
a) Opportunity to look at the admittedly very attractive Paul Bettany. A LOT.
b) Massive potential for Supernatural crossovers/fusions.
Erm... well, this movie is WEIRD. It's got an interesting central idea, yes, and some nice touches in the direction... but then they go and throw in some horrendously cheesy dialogue and a truckload of cliche...
the overall effect is that it's an apocalyptic movie with angels that takes itself just a bit too seriously and is, as a result, unintentionally hilarious.
Oh, and they gave the Archangel Gabriel a morningstar to fight with, which I found rather ironic.
My main issue with this film, though, is more personal to me. See (and the fact that Adrienne Palicki is the main female character does not help), pretty much from the beginning I was almost automatically comparing everything angel- or apocalypse-related to Supernatural.
EVERYTHING.
This did, however, help me figure out the basics of a Supernatural/Legion fusion fic, because I know exactly which bits to ditch.
(Not Charlie, though, because let's face it... Sam'n'Dean meeting a waitress who looks exactly like Sam's dead girlfriend and who happens to be pregnant with the future saviour of humanity? That'd be classic.)
Just one more thing... Dennis Quaid's character. What was up with that guy? Was he dropped on his head as a baby? Were his parents close biological relatives? I only ask because that guy was... frankly, dumb. Whatever, it doesn't matter...
Movie rating: Two and a half machine-gun-wielding angels out of five. Good idea, poor-to-occasionally-decent execution, great fic ideas.
PS. OH MY GOD, SUPERNATURAL REALLY IS TAKING OVER MY WORLD. SEND HELP. PLEASE.
