trillianastra: (tosh- the ponder stibbons of torchwood)
I've discovered the cure for Children of Earth-induced depression.

...

Listening to Torchwood audio books. Especially The Sin Eaters which has a) a mightily weird plot b) disappearing insects and c) Gareth David-Lloyd reading it.

c) is the main attraction for me. His impression of Jack's accent is pretty awesome, really.

(I've also got a DW audiobook downloaded... read by Bernard Cribbins! Just had to have that one.)
trillianastra: (in ur century defying ur labelz [jack])
This one's for Ianto.

Do I need more explanation? I don't think I do.

(Disclaimer: Not mine in any sense. Just one of my favourite poems.)

Stop All The Clocks

by W.H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum,
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead,
Put crepe bows around the necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

The Word of the Day on dictionary.com for today is...

INEFFABLE.

This makes me happy, 'cause... well, it does. Also, Good Omens. And yes, that is a perfectly valid reason, why do you ask?
