You know how sometimes, you find a TV show, you start watching an episode, and you just know that you're going to love it?
That happened to me today.
There's this show called Life. I don't know what network it's on, as I only just found it on a streaming-links site today, but then again, I don't actually care.
Reasons I like this show:
#1. Damian Lewis. Lead actor, also happens to be bloody fantastic. Doing the Hugh Laurie thing of being very, very convincingly American (he's actually as British as they come).
#2. Lewis' character, Charlie Crews. This guy is fantastic. He's smart, he's philosophical, he's funny, and genuinely comes across as a nice guy. (Oh, and he spent twelve years in jail for a crime he didn't commit.)
#3. Dani Reese (detective character, Crews' partner). Unlike a lot of crime-procedural drama characters, she's believable. She has a past, but she's not *angstangstangst* all the time. It's refreshing.
#4. Ted. (Crews' roommate/lodger) To understand, you'd have to watch the show yourself.
#5. Christina Hendricks as a guest star? I like! (Even though, as a direct result of too much Firefly exposure, I can barely look at her without thinking "Who's Saffron scamming now?". *sigh*)
In short. New shows. They can surprise you.
