Heroes 4x01 "Orientation"
Heroes has... put me through a lot, and there have been times when I've wondered why I still bother with it. The end of season three was one of those times... but I gave this new episode a chance, because part of me still hopes that one day, this show will get back to the awesomeness of Season One.
And you know, it might actually happen. This felt a lot more like the old Heroes... less complicated, fewer random characters thrown in for the hell of it...
anyway, yeah. So the situation is this:
Claire's at college, with The Most Annoying Roommate Ever(TM). TMARE has a 'trajectory' for her life. It was excruciating. The other person Claire's met, btw, is someone who remembers what happened at her old high school in Odessa. So... awkward.
Peter, bless him, is actually doing something smart and is using his powers to help people, by working as a paramedic. Which has gained him both a bit of a reputation and a wall full of newspaper stories about people he's saved.
Hiro and Ando... OK, this was the weak point of the ep. They've got some ridiculous 'dial a hero' thing... with a total of one job: rescuing a cat. Well Kimiko showed up and was badass for a scene, at least...
Matt: Is in what I guess is LA, with Baby!Matt. Also, is absolutely refusing to have anything to do with Angela Petrelli. Which is a good thing.
Tracy: is... not dead, and is going around killing Building 26 people - with Noah and Danko next on the list. Noah makes a deal with her - he gets Haitian!dude to make Danko forget her, and she lets him go - but Danko isn't so lucky. Tracy doesn't kill him, though... more later.
Angela: Yeah... not so impressed with Angela right now. The words "delusional", "manipulative" and "bitch" come to mind...
Sylar Nathan Sylathan: Well, well. That started sooner than I thought. His powers are even starting to re-emerge... intermittent, and he'll probably have no control for a while... but still. I'm actually looking forward to Sylar being *back*, properly, if only for the look on Angela's face right before he kills her.
Also, hearing Adrian Pasdar's voice but seeing ZQ (in that dream thing) was FREAKY.
NEW PEOPLE:
So, this ep starts with a bunch of interesting-looking types standing around a grave in, pretty much, the middle of nowhere. This turns out to be the funeral of someone called Joseph, and the man speaking (who was on Prison Break, apparently) talks about family and acceptance and stuff, right before telekinetically filling in the grave.
We go back to these guys later, and it seems they're a travelling circus (and therefore, awesome). The speaker from the funeral turns out to be called Sam, and he's not the only person with an ability - there's a girl, who seems to be some kind of clairvoyant or maybe psychic, because she 'found' Danko, but (and I still don't know how the hell this happened) a picture of his face appeared on her skin, like a tattoo except that it dispersed later. The other person is a guy, I think he might be British based on the accent, and I think he has an ability but god knows what it is - all I saw were some pretty awesome-looking moves involving a pair of wicked-looking knives, when he killed Danko (who took something from the circus-folk. They mentioned a compass).
Anyway, the new people look fun, and dangerous, and interesting, and badass. Which is a good sign.
One thing, though... Mr Kring, seriously, of all the characters to suddenly be dying... you pick HIRO? Yeah, way to alienate most of what's left of your fanbase. GAH.
